December 2015 WOWBOX Review

Hi there! I know it’s a bit late but i thought I might as well post this review up. Anyways for Christmas, I decided to purchase a one off WOWBOX subscription box for my little sister (really I just wanted it for myself). WOWBOX is a monthly japanese subscription box that contains candy and snacks from Japan. They have three different sizes which vary the amount of items received in each box.

  • Small  $14.99 (roughly £11)
  • Medium $24.99 (roughly £18)
  • Large $34.99 (roughly £25)

What’s great about WOWBOX is, they have three different types of themes you can choose from. With all three being quite different. They have:

  • Original Fun & Tasty-contains candies & snacks that are a bit different from the basic and fun to eat.
  • The Classic-contains candies and snacks that are quite popular and well known in japan. Such as pocky sticks
  • Kawaii & Beauty-contains candies and snacks that are suppose to be low calories and good for the body for those that are into eating healthy.

Since I sometimes purchase basic Japanese candy from Chinatown in London, I decided to go with the Original Fun & Tasty Box, since i wanted to try new things that I wouldn’t necessary be able to purchase in the UK. Since a wide range of Pocky sticks are available to purchase in Chinese supermarkets. Using a discount coupon from another review, I was able to purchase the Original Fun & Tasty medium box for £15.28 ($22.50) with free shipping. The box was dispatched on the 9th December 2015 from Japan and arrived in the UK on the 29th December 2015, so it took roughly 2-3 weeks but this might be because of it being close to the Christmas holidays.

WOWBOX has their own personalized box which contains the logo on the top lid like some subscription companies. The material is made of a sturdy box, so when it arrived there were no tears or dents made and was sealed tight with tape making sure it couldn’t open. So my items would survive the treacherous long journey from Japan to the UK. So what did i get in my December subscription box, upon opening you are presented with a nicely designed information sheet with one side saying the month of the subscription box and the other being the actual information sheet of all the products listed. And a nutritional sheet about the items given, for those that like to consider these things when eating. Personally I think it’s a nice touch, but I don’t really look at these things ever.

So what was inside my box? Well here they are:

  1. Corn Potarge – a corn snack that tastes like creamy corn soupDSCN4579.JPG
  2. Umai Dama (chocolate) -a airy puff that is filled with chocolateDSCN4569.JPG
  3. Bikkuri Man Chocolate 8-a wafer snack with a chocolate filling that comes with a special cardDSCN4573.JPG
  4. Donut Biscuit-a vanilla flavoured crunchy bite sized biscuit that has a sugar coatingDSCN4568.JPG
  5. Pokemon Chewing Candy (pineapple)-a chewy pineapple flavour candy that features a Pokemon character on each wrapper. DSCN4566.JPG
  6. Pucchibi (Soda)-small blue chewy candy that is soda flavourDSCN4564.JPG
  7. Kajiriccho Soft Candy (Hip Hop Berry)-a chewy candy that tastes like soda and berries with small little pieces in the middle. Kind of reminds me of the cable sweets that you can get from pick and mix sweets.DSCN4565.JPG
  8. Texas Corn (Fried Chicken)-crispy corn snack that tastes like chickenDSCN4576
  9. Yawaraka Yawaraka Soft Candy (cola)-a soft chewy cola flavored candyDSCN4578.JPG
  10. Giant Caplico (Usa Pyon Vanilla)-a ice cream cone filled with two types of foamy chocolate.DSCN4571.JPG
  11. Crisp Choco (Hot Cake Maple)-crunchy corn flake snack that tastes like maple syrup.DSCN4562
  12. Tanoshi Ramenya-San- a DIY kit to make dumplings and ramen candyDSCN4570.JPG
  13. Niginigi O-Sushiya San Gummy-sushi shaped gummy candy in apple, banana and lemon flavourDSCN4574
  14. Fit’s Link (No Limit Mint)- chewing gum that is minty and provides freshness that is suppose to last for 50 minutes DSCN4567.JPG

Overall to me this box was worth the price that it is since it came with many news items that I enjoyed and might not have necessary been able to purchase in the UK. The items were pretty big size for some of the products, and had sweet & savoury items. This was good as it was fun to share with my family and try new things. The box had free shipping, which means you only pay for the box and NO UK custom tax fees. This was a good thing, since personally I’m always worried about having to pay extra for Customs tax fee. Wished I had bought the bigger box now, since the Pokemon Soda looks pretty good. Maybe I will try another box or try another subscription company. Anyways hope this inspires you to try a couple of items or the subscription box. Great gift for those that love Japanese candy and snacks or want to try something new.  You can purchase by visiting the website at or by clicking on the word WOWBOX

Hope you have a nice day!

Panda’s Dream So Cool Eye Stick Review

A cooling eye stick from Tony Moly’s ‘Panda Dream’ Range. Tony Moly is a well known Korean Brand that creates many different beauty products with cute packaging. And as you can see from my posts and from other bloggers, Tony Moly do an exceptional job at producing very cute packaging for their products. There are so many that I want to purchase, just for the packaging. But I have resisted so far with only a couple of Tony Moly products, but not sure for how long that will last before I grab some other products. ^_^ On this occasion, I did purchase the So Cool Eye Stick for the cute packaging. Currently I have been using Simple’s Kind To Eyes Revitalising Eye Roll on but thought I needed another one to take with me in my bag.

Price: £4-7 (I purchased mine for £6.69 from a UK seller on ebay, but you can purchase it for £4-5 from a Korean Ebay seller if you can wait for it to be shipped all the way from Korea)

What it does: According to Tony Moly, the stick-type eye product helps provides moisture around the eyes with a cooling effect for when its dry. With ingredients that help with hydration, reducing wrinkle lines and brightens the skin.

Directions (on the box): When your eyes are dry or tired, apply the Stick gently from inside to out and tap lightly with the tip of your finger for better absorption

Ingredients: Water, Butylene Glycol, Sodium Stearate, Alcohol, Xylitol, PEG-12 Dimethicone, Glycerin, PEG-8, Bis-PEG-18 Methyl Either Dimethyl Silane, Niacinamide, Sodium Citrate, Dimethicone, Adenosince, Actinidia Arguta Fruit Extract, Sea Water, Babus Vulgaris Shoot Extract, Bambusa Vulgaris Sap Extract, Glacier Water, Potassium Alginate, Methyl Methacrylate, Crosspolymer Xanthan Gum, Citric Acid, Steareth-20, Caprylyl Glycol 1, 2-Hexanediol, Caprylhydroxamic Acid, N-Hydroxysuccinimide, Chlorhexidine Digluconate, Potassium Sorbate, Chrysin, Palmitoyl Oligopeptide, Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7, Tropolone, Fragrance, CI 42090, Phenoxyethanol

Outer Packaging:  The packaging of the eye stick comes in a little see through plastic box with the design being quite basic with just a couple of bamboo imagesDSCN4628 on the front. Around the box there is English written on one of the sides, which is great for users like me who don’t know how to read Korean.  So truthfully I’m not sure what is written on the other side, but I’m assuming that one side would be the same as the English side. The actual eye stick, as you can see is in an adorable panda shape. Isn’t it the cutest? With the little panda smiling on the tube, holding a bamboo leaf. It even has the cute little panda ears. What’s not to love about the packaging.

My view: The great thing about the Panda stick, is it’s very small and lightweight product which makes it easy to carry around in bags for when your eyes feel tired. And personally I felt a bit happy taking a little panda from my bag, though i got a couple of odd looks from people when I took it out in public. Guess they were wondering what it was. lol. The actual balm itself (I call it a balm because it’s like a large lip balm) does have a nice cooling sensation and glides easily when used on the skin which is nice. But the feeling only actual lasts for a few seconds, though it does a great job at keeping my eye moisturized. As for the product saying that it helps with wrinkle lines and brightens the skin, I don’t think any visible signs would be present unless you used the product everyday. Since I only use it when my eyes feel dry and tired, I haven’t seen much difference in the outcome.

Overall I love the product as a whole with the cute packaging and the moisturizing factor, though I actually prefer it without the small inside lid. Personally it’s a hassle to have to take it off when I use it, so I leave mine off all the time (not sure if it keeps it from drying out or not though). Especially when I purchased it, not sure if it was from the buyer or the actual product itself. But when I first opened it, the balm was sticking to the actual inside lid and when I took it off. It yanked the actual balm out of the tube, which was annoying but luckily it went back inside easily. DSCN4637.JPG

In the end, this will be a product that I will repurchase as it’s such a good price for the eye stick and panda packaging. ^_^ And it has a nice cooling sensation without the fragrance being too strong.

Though because I don’t wear any makeup, I’m not sure what the effects are over makeup. So if you’ve tried it over makeup, let me know how it was? Have you tried this product, let me know what you think about it? Would love to hear your thoughts!

Hope your having a lovely day!

Sneak Peek into my Korean Beauty Products

Thought that it was about time to write another post on here. So before I place a proper review post, I decided to let you the readers have a sneak peek at the products that I have. Here are a couple of the products that I’m going to be reviewing, hopefully in a few days when I get to it but currently have a couple of other posts i need to finish . Lol. DSCN4623

Yeah I know, your probably thinking not another person that is talking about Korean beauty products on a blog. But  like most people, I am too one of the many people that have fallen in the trend of trying Korean Beauty products. And let’s just say that the products that i buy are mainly skincare products obviously with the main well known brand such as Tonymoly, the face shop, etude house etc. As you will see from my photos later on throughout this blog,I don’t really wear makeup. Mainly because I’m a noob at makeup so don’t really know how to wear it.

Anyway, hope you enjoyed the sneak peek, and look forward to reading my future posts.

Have a great day!

Welcome To Sweet Geek Life!

Hi there and Welcome to The World of Tomorrow!  (sorry Futurama line), I mean Welcome to my Sweet Geek Life Blog!

My name’s Poh (silent ‘H’, so pronounce it Po from the Kung Fu Panda movie) and blogging has always been on my list to do for a while now. But I never knew where to start. So I decided that this year, I would make it one of my resolutions. My 2016 resolutions:

  • To start a blog ( Yeah I know, it’s the 15th January 2016. Great start to the blog right? Well i say better late than never)
  • Lose Weight (Kinda hard when I have so much Sweet goodies that I want to review, yeah just an excuse to munch on some snacks. ^_^)
  • Forget about someone that I had feelings for (That will be for another time, maybe?)

Hope your resolutions are good this year, we shall see if we follow through with them. Hopefully if we do it together, then we can tick them off our checklist. One of them is done for me, so YAY! Feels pretty good to complete one, though hopefully it won’t be one that I will give up.

First of all I’m a Blog Noob and proud of it. I would like to apologize for mistakes that I might make or if i keep changing the theme of the blog. ( There are so many different themes to choose from on here, finding the right one took me an hour)

Anyhoo, before I make this Welcome post a bit longer than it actually means to be. I thought I’d let you, the readers know. This blog will be filled with loads of fun reviews talking about:

  • Beauty skincare products from the UK, Korea etc,
  • Candy from different places like Japan, America, UK etc
  • Geeky stuff that I just have to tell someone about
  • Random stuff that I will talk about from time to time

I’m gonna finish off here now before I think of other stuff to say and Thank You for reading this long boring post! Hopefully you will check out my other posts when I get to it.

Have a lovely day now!
